Referrers

Our main referrers to the Scheme are Health Visitors and Social Services, although they can be made by anyone, families can also refer themselves.

On receipt of a referral, the co-ordinator will arrange an appointment with the family for an initial assessment visit. If, after that visit the referral is accepted, the co-ordinator matches a volunteer to work with the family.

The co-ordinator will then arrange a visit to introduce the volunteer to the family. During this visit, times will be fixed for the volunteer to return and thereafter visiting continues.

Home-Start informs the referrer that a volunteer is now visiting the family. The family is visited after approximately 6 weeks to see how they feel the visiting is going. Thereafter they will receive review visits every few months or as required.

All records containing details of families are treated as highly confidential and secured.
